The IRC (International Racers
Cup) is an online racing league that currently uses the Nascar Racing 2003
simulation by Papyrus. It was formed in 2002, and continues to be one of
most competitive and friendly leagues on the Internet. It was founded
on sportsmanship, and that remains the basis of the league. The IRC also
puts an emphasis on media coverage of its drivers and events by putting out a
monthly magazine (Racers Cup Illustrated). RCI
publishes race reports, driver interviews, race photos, and many other aspects
of the league to give its drivers and fans complete coverage of the league and
all of it's events.
The IRC runs three separate
racing series, all held on Monday nights. The schedules for these series basically run on
two-week rotations to allow for flexibility in attending events:
The Cup Series is a NASCAR-type
series, running open setups, actual track weather, and variable race
lengths. All Nextel Cup tracks are run, plus a couple extra venues, to
make up the yearly 24-race schedule. A Nextel Cup points system is also
used along with a modified "Chase for the Championship".
The Late Model Stock Series
simulates short track racing using the LMPV2 mod. This series runs fixed
setups with fixed weather, while visiting unique short tracks across the
country.
The Tran-Am Tour is a road
racing series using the PWF Trans-Am mod. This series also runs fixed
setups with fixed weather to reduce practice time for its drivers. The
points structure and tracks run simulate the actual North American Trans-Am Road
Racing Series.
The league seeks drivers that
are clean, experienced, and sportsmanlike, and we are currently accepting
applications for new drivers. Applications can be sent to the league
director at the JOIN THE LEAGUE page. The driver
fee for the 2007 season is $20 which is good for all 3 series, however that fee
is refundable allowing IRC racing to remain free under certain conditions
(please see the ENTRY FEES page for
details).
