Johnson Leads the Way at
SoBo and Takes Points Lead!
Gene
Patient was once again the fastest man on the track in the Late Model Series by
scoring another pole position at South Boston Speedway, but it was Alan Johnson
who would come away with the win.
Patient
looked strong in the early going, but when the race's only caution came out he
stayed out while the rest of the field pitted. From that point forward the
race went green allowing Alan Johnson to reel in Patient, eventually making the
pass, and scoring his first win of 2006.
Patient's
day continued to get worse as he ran out of fuel late in the race. He
would go on to finish in 5th after leading 65 of the races 100 laps.
Finishing
in second was Eric Brundies, while Bill Fuller came in third. Bill
Schneider had a great run to finish in the fourth position.
Johnson's
great win moved him to the top of the Late Model Standings, and in the following
race at North Wilkesboro he would finish in second place allowing him to keep
the top spot going into April.
