FULLER WINS IN 80th ATTEMPT!
Bill
Fuller captured the Bluegrass 200 at Kentucky Speedway on Monday, giving him his
first IRC Cup Series win. Fuller passed rookie Darrell Hudlemeyer on lap
62 of the 80 lap event and went on to lead to the checkered flag. This was
his 80th start in the Cup Series, putting an end to the record of consecutive
starts without a victory at 79.
"I
owe all of this one to Alan Johnson," said an exuberant Fuller in Victory
Lane, "He did a lot of testing here and gave us a setup that I knew was
going to be tough to beat on the long runs. I hated to see him and almost
all of my teammates wreck out of the race because we were all running the same
base setup, and any of those guys could have won it."
The
event saw 6 cautions on the night, many of which occurred on early restarts
under the slick track conditions on cold tires.
Darrell
Hudlemeyer finished a strong 2nd, while series veterans Gilles Mourette, Jeff
Trowbridge, and Chris Blalock rounded out the top 5. |
