Eric Brundies and Redfire
Racing Light Up Fontana!
Eric
Brundies bounced back from a slow start to the 2006 season to lead an amazing 90
of 125 laps while going on to win the California 250. This was Brundies
10th win in the series, along with landing his 10th pole position!
Brundies
and all of Redfire Racing was strong at Fontana. Jason Patterson made his
return to the series after missing the first two races of the season to finish
in 2nd place, and Redfire would have clinched the top 3 positions, but Nick
Hansen had a heartbreaking engine failure with only 8 laps remaining.
Burl
Begley made a strong showing for Team Microspeed to finish in 3rd, while Gilles
Mourette scored another top 5 to finish in 4th... also looking strong and
leading 13 laps. Bill Schneider finally shed his early season bad luck to
finish in the 5th position.
Darrell
Hudlemeyer finished in 6th which was enough to leave Fontana with the points
lead. Daytona 300 champ Pat Veillette finished in 7th, while Greg
Bartlett, Chris Blalock, and Shawn Reap rounded out the top ten.
The
event saw an unusual 12 cautions. Many of the drivers in the garage area
were complaining of slick and difficult conditions due to weather.
The
series now travels to Las Vegas and Bristol in the month of March.
